(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) On Friday March 7, 2014, shortly after 2 a.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a call for a child in need of protection, after a family member expressed safety concerns for the child who was sleeping over at another residence.
The child was returned home, and a subsequent OPP investigation has resulted in the arrest of Melvin HAZLEWOOD (57), of the Township of Perth South. He was subsequently charged with “Invitation to Sexual Touching†contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and held for a bail hearing today. He is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on April 7, 2014 to answer to this charge.
