Drinking Driver Gets 30 Day Suspension

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Friday March 14, 2014, shortly before 6 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers conducted a Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere (RIDE) program at Perth Line 87 at Perth Road 165 (north-west of Listowel). They stopped a vehicle and determined that the male driver had been drinking.

The driver was administered a roadside breath test on which he registered a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) from .05 to .08 A further check revealed that the driver had two previous BAC .05 to .08 suspensions. Therefore the driver was served a 30 day drivers licence suspension. For the driver’s licence to be reinstated he will have a 6 month ignition interlock condition and will be required to take an alcohol treatment program.

Two other drivers also registered a BAC from .05 to .08 at roadside administered breath tests. They were stopped at a RIDE program along Hwy 23 at Line 87 and at a program on Elm Ave North at Main St. East in Listowel. These two drivers had their drivers licences seized for three days.
