CN Police Issued Stop Order For All Trains

(NAPANEE, ON) – At approximately 9:30pm, Tuesday, March 18, 2014, protesters attended the CN Rail crossing at Wyman Road in Tyendinaga Township. As a result, Wyman Road south of Highway 2 is currently closed to traffic. Traffic on Highway 2 is not affected.

The OPP, CN Police and the Tyendinaga Police Service are aware of the protest and are monitoring the situation.

CN Police have issued a stop order for all trains.

The role of the OPP is to ensure public safety and to keep the peace. In keeping with the OPP Framework for Police Preparedness for Aboriginal Critical Incident Response, police will use a measured approach that respects everyone’s right to peaceful, lawful protest. In the event of criminal activity, incidents will be investigated and those responsible will be held accountable.

Police have established temporary detours around this location. We thank the public for their cooperation and patience and will provide further updates as they become available.
