TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO DRUG SEIZURE

(KENORA, ON) Members of the Kenora Detachment of the OPP have made another drug seizure on the highway following a traffic stop. On Thursday March 20, 2014 at approximately 9:30 pm, police stopped a vehicle on Highway 17 for a traffic violation. The police investigation led to the arrest of the two male occupants and a search of the vehicle. As a result of the search, police located over 400 grams of Marihuana and 2 grams of Psilocybin (magic mushrooms). The street value of the drugs is approximately $9000.

As a result of this investigation, a 17 year old male youth and a 21 year old male, both from Toronto, have been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule II substance-Cannabis, Possession of a Schedule II substance-Cannabis and Possession of a Schedule III substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act. They are to appear in Kenora Court on April 24 to answer to the charge.
