(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – Members of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting radar on Highway 400 in Seguin Township on March 21, 2014. At approximately 4:20 p.m., an officer observed a vehicle traveling more than 50 km/h over the posted speed limit. A traffic stop was conducted and an investigation began. Police located and seized Marijuana from the vehicle. Both occupants from the vehicle were placed under arrest. As a result of the stunt driving, the vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days.
Driver of the motor vehicle, Sherrie DONOVAN, 28 years of age from Espanola was charged with Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marijuana, Under 30 grams contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. She was also charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Speeding by 50 or more km/h contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
Richard STEELE, 27 years of age from Toronto was charged with Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marijuana, Under 30 grams contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Both charged individuals will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on April 17, 2014 to answer to their charges.
