(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON)- On Tuesday March 25, 2014 at 2:03 p.m. members of Western Region (WR) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Enforcement Team (HET) observed a female driver operating her motor vehicle on Littlewood Drive at HWY 401, while speaking on a cellular phone. A traffic stop was completed at which time it was confirmed that female driver was wanted in regards to an outstanding criminal code warrant. During the course of an investigation police located a quantity of a controlled substance and contraband tobacco.
As a result of an investigation police have charged Sheila THOMAS, age 32 of Six Nations of the Grand River with:
Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine as per Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA)
Drive motor vehicle on a highway while using a hand-held wireless communication device as per Section 78.1 of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).
The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the courts, at a later date to speak in relation to the charges.
The Ministry of Finance (MOF) has been contacted by the OPP and is currently conducting an investigation in relation to the seized tobacco.
