(WARWICK TOWNSHIP, ON) On March 29, 2014 just before 1:00 p.m. a Lambton Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on Highway 402, performed a traffic stop on a commercial motor vehicle.
As a result of that traffic stop the 57 year old driver from London, ON was charged with:
use number plate not authorized for vehicle
drive commercial vehicle without valid Commercial Vehicle Operators Registration certificate
Fail to display annual safety inspection decal
The OPP officer required that the driver follow the OPP cruiser so that the commercial vehicle could be properly weighed. While the driver of the commercial vehicle was being escorted directly behind the OPP cruiser to the weigh scales, the OPP officer noticed that the driver was talking on a cell phone.
The driver was subsequently charged with drive motor vehicle on a highway while using a hand-held wireless communication device.
