(Hawkesbury, ON) The Hawkesbury OPP Detachment is initiating a new crime prevention program in its detachment area. The program called Safeguard Ontario, which has been an important crime prevention program of the OPP for a few years, is aimed at educating the community on how to secure property and protect itself against property crimes.
In partnership with trained community volunteer members of its Auxiliary Policing program, SafeGuard Ontario is a community based crime prevention program developed in direct support of our detachment front line members to help citizens lock criminals out of house and home.”
SafeGuard Ontario training provides an orientation to the basic principles of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) with a primary focus on target hardening techniques to help reduce or prevent re-victimization of property crimes.
The Hawkesbury OPP Detachment Detective Ken Gray will coordinate and supervise the program that will analyze monthly property crime incidents in order to address problem areas.
