Anthony Walton – Obstruct Police

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – On March 29, 2014 at approximately 5:13 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) programs on Wellington Road 19 at the First Line of Centre Wellington Twp.

Officers investigated the driver of a 1999 Nissan that entered into the checkpoint and detected the odour of fresh marijuana in the vehicle and observed marijuana on the driver’s lap. Police also observed drug paraphernalia in the open glove compartment. The driver was placed under arrest and instructed to pull his vehicle over to the side of the road.

Police searched the vehicle and discovered the drug paraphernalia had been moved. When questioned, the driver admitted to concealing it outside the vehicle in an attempt to hide it from the officer.

Anthony Walton aged 45 of Centre Wellington Township has been charged with Obstruct Peace Officer contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on May 16, 2014 to answer to the charge.
