(LUCAN BIDDULPH, ON)- On Thursday April 3, 2014 at 6:08 a.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Unit located a speeding motor vehicle travelling westbound on Elginfield Road. The vehicle speed was observed at 132km/h in a posted 80km/h zone. A traffic stop was completed where police learned the vehicle was a cab from Perth County.
As a result of an investigation police have charged the driver Murray ROBINSON, age 68 of St. Mary’s, ON under the Stunt Driving legislation. The accused was released by way of a Summons and is scheduled to appear in a London Provincial Offences Court room on June 2, 2014 to speak to the charges. The drivers licence was seized at the scene and his vehicle was impounded for a period of seven days.
The Middlesex OPP continues every day to focus on the “big four†risk behaviours which include aggressive driving, distracted driving, impaired driving and occupants not wearing safety restraints. These are the leading causes of injuries and deaths on Ontario roadways. The OPP will continue to use both enforcement and education to help curb the rise of accidents and the unnecessary loss of life.
Police remind the public that if you see someone who you believe is driving while impaired or driving in a dangerous or aggressive manner to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 anytime, anywhere in the Province of Ontario or you nearest police authority.
Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2000.
