Man Charged with Breach of Probation

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man for failing to comply with his probation orders.

Last night, a Greyhound bus travelling westbound through Chatham enroute to Windsor broke down. As a result, the bus driver was forced to pull into the Greyhound bus depot on Grand Avenue East. At this time, the driver contacted police to report that a male passenger had been consuming alcohol and was harassing some of the other passengers. The man was no longer welcome to continue to Windsor once the replacement bus arrived.

Officers attended the area and upon speaking with the man detected a strong odour of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. Through investigation, police learned that the man was currently bound by three separate probation orders, all containing the condition not to purchase, possess or consume alcohol.

The 53-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with three counts of breach of probation. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
