(HURON EAST, ON) – Last night around 9:00 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron East Fire Department and Huron County EMS personnel responded to a four vehicle collision that sent one driver to hospital. Police investigation revealed a Pontiac Vibe was southbound on Kippen Road near Centennial Road when it was overtaken by a vehicle that failed to remain at the scene of the collision. The driver of the vehicle that failed to remain entered the northbound lane of traffic on Kippen Road and forced oncoming vehicles off the roadway.
The overtaken southbound Pontiac Vibe then collided with a northbound Dodge Pickup that tried to avoid the fail to remain vehicle. The Dodge pickup then spun around and struck a Chevrolet Tahoe that was following in the northbound lane.
The driver of the Pontiac Vibe, an 80 year old male driver from Huron East was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He received treatment and was later released.
The Pontiac Vibe and Dodge Pickup were demolished. The Chevrolet Tahoe sustained moderate damage.
The OPP West Region Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Team (TTCI) attended the scene to assist with the collision investigation.
