Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police are currently investigating the theft of a motor vehicle which occurred on April 13, 2014 between 3:30pm and 4pm. The vehicle, a black Mitsubishi car, was left unlocked and had the keys in the ignition was taken from the Dutton Community Centre, Dutton/Dunwich.
At approximately 4:12pm police observed the stolen vehicle traveling south on Sunset Rd. in the area of Talbotville, ON. Police attempted to stop the vehicle however the driver failed to stop for police and fled into the City of St.Thomas. In the interest of public safety OPP discontinued following the vehicle in the City of St.Thomas. St.Thomas City Police were alerted.
The stolen black Mitsubishi car was later recovered in the Rona Store parking lot in St.Thomas.
Police believe that the person responsible for this vehicle theft was later responsible for an assault and theft of a vehicle in the St.Thomas area. The St.Thomas Police Service is currently investigating this incident.
