(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, ON) – Middlesex County is currently experiencing strong gusts of wind and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is reminding drivers to keep their hands on the wheel and their eyes on the road ahead.
Middlesex County OPP Constable Laurie Houghton cautions “The wind is blowing debris onto the roads, there is an increased risk for wires to come down and we need drivers to be prepared and expect the unexpected. To do this, drivers need to slow down, look ahead and stay focussed on their drivingâ€Â.
And the warning doesn’t end with motorists. Police are asking members of the public to be cautious as they are out, whether in a car, on a bike or on foot. If anyone comes across a downed wire they are urged to keep a distance from the wire and call 911 and to always assume the wires are live and dangerous.
