The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man following a fraud investigation earlier this year.
In February 2014, a 24-year-old year contacted police to report that someone had used one of his personal cheques to withdraw money from his account without his permission. Through investigation, police identified the man responsible for depositing the forged cheque and withdrawing $200 from the victim’s account. Attempts were made to locate the man, however when unsuccessful, a warrant was issued for his arrest. Yesterday morning, police located the man on King Street and he was arrested. The 28-year-old Chatham man was charged with fraud under $5000 and uttering a forged document. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
