(Huron County, ON) – Fuel thefts seem to be on the rise not only in Huron County but across the province. The thefts have ranged from siphoning out of personal vehicles to stealing fuel from tanks at storage locations. We want to make the public aware of this trend and have some suggestions to curtail this activity.
All fuel storage tanks should be locked and secured.
Consider gas caps that can be locked for your vehicle.
Park your vehicle in a well lit area to deter thieves from siphoning fuel from the tank.
Gas cans should be kept out of sight and in a secure location.
Please take measures to protect yourself and your property. In the event of a theft, report it to the police.
