(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON.) – Members of the Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a local man with numerous criminal offences. The charges stem from the investigation of two separate incidents. The first involved the shoplifting of food from a store located on Government Road East in Kirkland Lake. The second incident was a robbery with violence at the Ukrainian Catholic Church located on Second Street in Kirkland Lake. The accused attended the church assaulted the victim a 91 year-old man and stole some money. Both incidents occurred during the mid-morning hours on April 15, 2014. The subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the accused.
Charged with Robbery with Violence, Theft Under $5,000, Fail to Comply with Conditions of an Undertaking and two counts of Fail to Comply with a Probation Order is Aaron GAUTHIER age 21 of Kirkland Lake. He was remanded into custody pending a bail hearing. The investigation into these incidents continues.
