(WEAGAMOW LAKE FIRST NATION, ON) – At approximately 10:55pm CST April 18, 2014 officers with North Caribou Lake Police Service and Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a disturbance at a residence in Weagamow Lake First Nation, Ontario.
Upon arrival, officers observed a male outside. When officers approached, he quickly ran into the residence. The officers could hear children crying inside and entered the residence to ensure the safety of all occupants. The male was located and found to be suffering from a self-inflicted injury. The male was transported to hospital.
The OPP has notified the Province’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) who has invoked its mandate. Further inquiries should be directed to SIU Communications at (416) 622-2342.
