On the 21st of April 2014, a 29 year old male attended a south end gas bar and placed $80 worth of gas in his vehicle. After fuelling up the male walked into the store and attempted to pay with a gift card that had yet to be activated. When advised he required to activate the card by making a payment, the male played dumb and proceeded to the main store to activate his card. Prior to attending the store, he turned off and went back to his car where he sped out of the gas bar. Police were contacted and provided a licence plate of the suspect vehicle and contacted the male driver by phone advising he had neglected to pay. The male provided a few excuses and in the end refused to return to the store.
Police located his address, attended and arrested the male on the theft. During the investigation police revealed that the male was currently wanted on an outstanding warrant in Orillia and was also violating conditions of his probation. The male was held pending a bail hearing for the offences of theft and failing to comply with probation. Once he is done dealing with these charges he will be returned to Orillia to deal with the charges of the outstanding warrant.
