(CALEDON, ON) – On April 19th, 2014 shortly after 10:20 pm, a concerned citizen contacted the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to report a possible impaired driver on Airport Road. Officers attended the area and located the suspect and his vehicle outside his residence. The male admitted to police that he had been operating his motor vehicle. Upon speaking with the driver, police immediately detected a strong odour of alcohol on his breath.
Subsequently, the driver was given the roadside screening breath demand. The driver’s breath reading registered a fail. The male was transported to Detachment for further testing.
In conclusion, Robert HOPSON, 65, of Caledon was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operate Motor Vehicle with Over 80.
The Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The accused is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on May 8, 2014.
