(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – A vehicle stop recently conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has resulted in the driver facing numerous charges.
On April 19, 2014 an officer was on general patrol on Kawartha Lakes Road 121 near Kawartha Lakes Road 8 when a vehicle was observed with improper plates. The officer subsequently stopped the vehicle and initiated an investigation.
As a result of the investigation, the driver, Michael HALL, 18 years of age, of Fenelon Township, was charged with the following offences:
Possession of property obtained by crime, contrary to the Criminal Code
Use plate not authorized for vehicle, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner, contrary to the HTA
Possess illegal licence, contrary to the HTA
Drive motor vehicle without insurance, contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act
The accused will appear in court, in Lindsay, on May 22, 2014.
