(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Sunday April 20, 2014, a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol in Listowel, observed a Honda Civic fail to stop for a stop sign on Inkerman St. East at Wallace Ave South.
The driver of the Civic was spoken to by the officer who determined that the male driver displayed signs of impairment, and had consumed alcoholic beverages. The driver was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and was transported to the OPP detachment in Listowel where he failed two Intoxilyzer Breath Tests.
Christopher COOPER (32) of Kitchener has been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences;
– Driving while ability impaired.
– Driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood.
– Driving while disqualified.
– Fail to comply with probation order.
He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Listowel on May 28, 2014 to answer to these charges. He also received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle has been impounded for 45 days (due to the prior drive disqualified charge).
