(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – Traffic enforcement conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has resulted in two drivers being charged.
On April 23, 2014 an OPP officer was on patrol on Valentia Road and noted that a passing vehicle had expired plates attached to it. The officer subsequently stopped the vehicle and determined that it was not insured.
As a result of the vehicle stop, the driver, Konrad CZAPKOWSKI, 18 years of age, of Mariposa Township, was charged with driving with an expired validation permit, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and with operating a motor vehicle without insurance, contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.
The accused will appear in court, in Lindsay, on June 10, 2014.
Later that day an officer observed a motor cycle travelling at 138 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on Highway 35 near Mount Horeb Road. The officer stopped the vehicle and charged the operator with stunt driving, contrary to the HTA. The motor cycle was towed from the scene and will be impounded for 7 days.
Robert BIRCH, 60 years of age, of Oshawa, will appear in court, in Lindsay on May 13, 2014.
