On April 28, 2014 at 6:39 p.m., the Guelph Police Service went downtown to investigate the report of a male in the area with a handgun. A second call to police placed the male in an apartment building arguing with a female. Police located the male and placed him under arrest. A search subsequent to his arrest discovered a black plastic toy handgun in his pants. Once the male was taken back to the police station a more thorough search discovered a small quantity of marihuana.
A 26-year-old Guelph man has been charged with weapons dangerous, two counts of breach of probation and possession of a controlled substance (CDSA). He was also charged with enter premise while entry prohibited (Trespass to Property Act) and being intoxicated in a public place (Liquor Licence Act). He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on April 29, 2014.
