(Bluewater, ON) – At approximately 3:30 am on June 7th, Huron OPP officers were patrolling on Zurich – Hensall Road when they came upon a vehicle in the ditch. The officers checked upon the shaken but uninjured driver and determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and due to power outages in the area she had to be taken to the Stratford City Police to meet with a qualified Intoxilizer Technician in order to provide two samples of her breath.
The results of the two tests confirmed that the driver had a blood alcohol level that was more than two times above the legal limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol.
As a result of the investigation, Samantha FUNSTON (29) of Zurich has been charged with one count of Impaired Care and Control and one count of Over 80 Care and Control. She will answer to her charges in the Ontario Court of Justice – Exeter on August 25th, 2011. Her driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days as per statute.
