(HALIBURTON, ON) – Officers from the Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have been busy ensuring our area highways are safe in their on-going efforts against drinking & driving. Police would also like to thank the number of citizens that provided assistance in contacting 911 regarding some of these incidents.
On June 27, 2014 at 4:40 pm witnesses observed a school bus traveling on County Road 21, in the Municipality of Dysart et al, Ontario. Officers located and stopped the bus which did not have any passengers. The driver Nicolae GLUCK age 63 from Dysart was charged with Impaired Driving and Driving with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden on August 06, 2014.
On June 28, 2014 at 4:30 pm OPP were conducting a RIDE check on Kennisis Lake Road in the Municipality of Dysart et al, Ontario. Police stopped a 2011 GMC pickup at the check area and administered a roadside test to the driver. As a result, Amanda DOVELL age 35 from Eagle Lake Ontario was charged with Driving with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden on August 06, 2014.
On June 28, 2014 at 11:59 pm OPP were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on West Road in the Township of Algonquin Highlands Ontario. The lone male driver of the 2003 Pontiac Sunfire vehicle had driven off the road into the ditch. With the assistance of residents in the area the driver remained until police were on scene. The male was transported to the detachment for breath tests. Paul PRETTY age 63 from Minden Hills Ontario was charged with Impaired Driving and Driving with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden on August 06, 2014.
On June 29, 2014 at 11:37 pm OPP were conducting a RIDE check on Fortesque Lake Road in the Municipality of Highlands East, Ontario. Police stopped a 2000 GMC pickup at the check area. The driver failed the roadside test and was arrested. As a result, Robert RIEL age 50 from Gooderham Ontario was charged with Driving with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden on August 06, 2014.
