ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON

(WASAGA BEACH, ON.) – On June 30th, 2014 at approximately 1:10 p.m., members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report that a male had been hit with a “baseball bat” in the parking lot of the Riverbend Plaza.

An OPP investigation revealed that a 17 year old male struck a 20 year old male several times with a baseball bat causing this male to go unconscious, then fled the area in his motor vehicle. Police located and arrested this male a short distance away on River Road West.

The above 20 year old male from Wasaga Beach was transported to Hospital with undetermined but non-life threatening injuries.

Police advise this was not a random act of violence as both individuals knew each other.

Charged with “Assault with a weapon” is a 17 year old male from Washago, Ontario. First appearance is August 7th, 2014 in Collingwood court.
