(LAKE HURON, ON) – On July 17th, 2011, the South Bruce OPP Marine Unit was patrolling the waters of Lake Huron. At 8:40 am, during an inspection of a Lund vessel, a safety equipment violation was discovered. 55 year old Claude FOY of Port Elgin was charged under the Canada Shipping Act, Small Vessel Regulations for not having the required safety equipment on board. The South Bruce OPP is sending another reminder to pleasure craft operators to ensure their vessel is properly equipped each time it leaves the dock. Properly maintained safety equipment will make the difference between a marine rescue and a marine tragedy.
