(HURON EAST, ON) – Last night at approximately 11:43 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a structure fire located at the former Queen’s Hotel located the corner of Main Street and Goderich Street in Seaforth. Seaforth Fire Department, along with fire crews from Clinton and Mitchell also attended the scene after witnesses spotted smoke billowing out of the top story of the three story building. Fire crews were able to contain the spread of the fire however the damage to the unoccupied building is considered a complete loss. A dollar value for the damages has yet to be determined.
The Office of the Fire Marshal has been contacted and they are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
The first block of Goderich Street East is closed at Main Street for vehicle traffic. Please take alternate routes to avoid delays.
