Fatal Crash Update: Deceased Identified, Charge Laid

(BRANT TWP, ON) – On July 6, 2014 at 10:45 am, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a 2 vehicle crash at the intersection of Bruce County Road 3 and Cargill Road in Brant Township.

Officers arrived to find a Beige GMC Sierra 2500 pick-up truck pulling a Prowler 5th wheel trailer was east bound on the Cargill Road when it pulled into the path of a Black Nissan Rogue that was north bound on Bruce County Road 3.

The driver of the Rogue, 30 year old Byron LEADER of Perth East Township was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the GMC pick-up truck, 56 year old Edward EISENMENGER of Wilmot Township, was charged with Fail to stop at stop sign.

Walkerton Fire Department fire fighters and Bruce County paramedics both attended the scene.

Hydro One attended as a hydro pole was damaged in the crash.

Bruce County Road 3 was closed for the protection of emergency responders, but it has been re-opened to traffic.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation unit and the Coroner’s Office are assisting the South Bruce OPP with this investigation.
