(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a London man in connection with a motorcycle collision early Sunday morning.
On July 6, 2014 at approximately 12:38 a.m. Middlesex County OPP with the assistance of Oxford, Elgin and Norfolk OPP and the OPP West Region Highway Safety Division (HSD) responded to a single vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on Highway 401 east of Elgin Road in the Municipality of Thames Centre. When police arrived, they discovered a damaged motorcycle along the centre median. It was apparent that a person or persons sustained some level of injury; however there was nobody with the vehicle.
A search involving the West Region Canine Unit and OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) concluded with negative results.
Hours later, police made contact with the driver. As a result of the investigation, police charged Shaun FINNESSY, age 43 of London, ON with Fail to Remain under the Highway Traffic Act. The accused is scheduled to appear in a London courtroom August 11, 2014 to speak to the charge.
