EARLY MORNING HOUSE FIRE IN GEORGIAN BLUFFS – DECEASED IDENTIFIED

(TOWNSHIP OF GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), with the assistance of the Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office, investigated a house fire on Sideroad 115 in the Township of Georgian Bluffs which occurred in the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 9, 2014.

A 33 year old woman and two boys ages 5 and 11, were taken to hospital for treatment and released. A third child, a girl, age 7, was air lifted to a hospital in Toronto to receive care for serious injuries sustained as a result of the fire.

A deceased person was located within the home. A post mortem examination was conducted today, Friday, July 11, 2014 in London, Ontario.

The deceased has been identified as Christopher Andrew JOHNSON, age 43, of Sideroad 115, Township of Georgian Bluffs.

The cause of death was deemed to be carbon monoxide poisoning secondary to smoke inhalation as a result of the fire.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, although it does not appear to be suspicious.

The Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office is continuing with the investigation.
