(HURON TWP, ON) – On July 11, 2014, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Drug Enforcement Unit, with the assistance of the West Region Emergency Response Team, and South Bruce OPP, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a property on Attawandaron Street in Huron Township.
As a result of the execution of the search warrant, an indoor marihuana grow operation was revealed. Police seized cannabis marihuana plants, processed cannabis marihuana, and cannabis resin. The combined estimated value of the seized controlled substances was $23,894.00. Police seized offence related property that consisted of marihuana production equipment and trafficking paraphernalia with an estimated value of $5,000.00. Police also seized a crossbow and ammunition.
48 year old Allan SIMICK of Huron Township was arrested and charged with production of cannabis marihuana, possession of cannabis marihuana for the purposes of trafficking, possession of cannabis resin, possession of ammunition and possession of a crossbow, while prohibited from doing so.
He was held in custody pending the results of a bail hearing scheduled for July 11, 2014.
