(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment would like to remind all boating enthusiasts to prepare for that day out on the water.
On Sunday, July 14, 2014 at approximately 11:53 a.m., police received an emergency call from a Seadoo operator looking for assistance in getting back to the Turkey Point Marina after becoming disorientated while on the water.
Through investigation it was determined that (2) Seadoo’s with approximately 5 people were travelling towards Pottahawk Point and became unaware of their surroundings when inclement weather produced limited visibility. The concerned caller was able to provide a location and with the assistance of the OPP Helicopter they were able to direct Marine Unit officers to the area where they were located.
Both vessels returned to shore however a female passenger was suffering from hypothermia and was transported to a local area hospital by Norfolk County Paramedics for further treatment and observation.
