(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON.) – On Friday July 18, 2014 members of the Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment will be running in the Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, sponsored by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police. The Torch Run is also celebrating its 28th anniversary this year. The run will start at the Northern College entrance at 11:30 a.m. and finish at Pettenuzzo’s Independent Grocer on McChesney Avenue in Kirkland Lake.
This year, law enforcement runners are striding to build on the 2013 money raised total of $2,000 and you can help by calling the Kirkland Lake OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122 or (705) 567-5355 and making a donation to the Adopt-a-Cop program. Anyone wishing to participate can run, jog, walk, bike and can pick up pledge sheets at the Kirkland Lake OPP Detachment. T-shirts supporting the run can be purchased at the Kirkland Lake OPP Detachment and a fundraising barbecue will be held after the run at Pettenuzzo’s Independent Grocer
All raised funds across the province help provide a local year-round program of fitness, recreation and competition for special athletes.
