(ORILLIA, ON) – On the evening of Wednesday July 16, 2014, Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report from a male victim that he had just been robbed in the area of West Street.
The 37 year old male complainant had been at a licenced premise in the City of Orillia. He met two men that night who befriended him. The three acquaintances then went to a nearby apartment. Shortly afterwards, at the apartment, the two men assaulted the victim and stole his cash, Sony cell phone and bank card.
Officers responded to the scene and spoke with the victim and other witnesses.
With the assistance of the Orillia OPP Crime Unit, Street Crime Unit (SCU) and the Emergency Response Team (ERT), a search warrant was prepared and executed at the residence where the offence took place.
Some of the victim’s possessions were recovered.
Two men were arrested, charged and held for a bail hearing.
Jason John COLIN age 32, of Orillia has been charged with Robbery and Fail to comply with a Probation Order.
Patrick RICHARD age 51, also of Orillia has been charged with Robbery.
Both men will be in court on July 22, 2014.
The victim sustained minor injuries.
A robbery is a combination of theft with violence. No weapons were used in this incident.
