(COLLINGWOOD, ONTARIO) Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Street Crimes unit with the assistance of front line members of the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP detachment have charged two youths in relation to numerous graffiti incidents in the Town of Collingwood.
The extensive investigation, which took place over the last 2 months, identified over 70 incidents of graffiti in Collingwood, many which had not been reported to police. All had the same identifying ‘tag’ and had been placed on structures on both public and private properties. As the investigation progressed, officers were able to identify the culprits in these mischiefs and as a result, charges were laid.
Charged are a 14 year old youth from Collingwood, he is charged with 16 counts of mischief under $5000 and a 15 year-old youth from Collingwood who is charged with 8 counts of mischief under $5000. Both youths cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
