OPP REMINDS PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS – PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE CHILDREN UNATTENDED IN VEHICLES

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment investigated an incident after being contacted by a concerned citizen at a Yeager Avenue, Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Friday, July 18, 2014 at approximately 4:34 p.m., police were contacted by a concerned care giver after a young infant was locked inside a vehicle along with the keys to the motor vehicle.

When police arrived on scene the vehicle was subsequently opened and the infant was located safe and sound.

“The OPP want to remind all parents or caregivers that at no time during the year should any child be left alone in a vehicle, no matter how quickly you think that errand will be. Leaving a child unattended in a vehicle goes beyond the weather conditions and the safety and well-being of a child should always be the top priority,” comments Constable Ed Sanchuk, Norfolk County OPP.
