Bicycle thefts in the city

The first three weeks of July has seen the Guelph Police receive twenty-five reports of thefts of bicycles throughout the city. In many of these incidents, bikes were locked but left outside residences and the culprit(s) cut the locks off to take the bike.

Bike locks should not be used as a long-term outdoor security method for a bike. Bikes should always be locked away in your home, garage or shed when possible. When traveling with your bike, a lock definitely increases safety for short term storage, however it is still not a 100% guarantee.

If your bike is stolen, please report it using the Guelph Police on-line reporting service.

Important information that will assist police in being able to find and return your bike is a detailed description of make, model, serial number, colours, brake and gear makes, seat type, handle bar type and any other feature that may stand out about the bike.
