(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On July 21, 2014, a Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting RADAR enforcement on Highway 401 near Drake Side Road.
Just after 8:00 p.m., the officer observed an eastbound KTM motorcycle that appeared to be exceeding the posted speed limit of 100 km/hr. The RADAR registered a speed of 157 km/hr. Further OPP investigation at roadside also determined that the validation tag for the motorcycle was expired.
The 28 year old male driver, from Kitchener, has been charged with driving a motor vehicle without a permit and racing a motor vehicle. The driver’s licence has been suspended and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days, as per statute.
