THREE PERSONS CHARGED AFTER VEHICLE STOP

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – A recent vehicle stop conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) resulted in three persons being charged with various offences.

On July 22, 2014 an OPP officer stopped a vehicle on Highway 35 near River Road for speeding. The vehicle driver, Lee ALDRED, 29 years of age, of Port Perry was charged with stunt driving, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The accused will appear in court, in Lindsay, on September 9, 2014. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Investigation conducted by the officer at the time of the vehicle stop also revealed the presence of open alcohol. The passengers, Kyle REDMAN, 30 years of age and Lyndsay THOMPSON, 22 years of age were issued Provincial Offences Notices for the offence of open alcohol, contrary to the Liquor Licence Act.

THOMPSON was further charged with possession of marihuana, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and will appear in court, in Lindsay on August 28, 2014.
