The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man following an incident of domestic violence in Chatham.
On July 22, 2014 the man started an argument with his ex-girlfriend while at her residence. It escalated into a physical altercation as the man assaulted the woman. The man took the woman’s cell phone and did not allow her to leave the residence. The woman eventually fled the residence and was able to get help. The woman sustained minor injuries.
Around 12:00 p.m. yesterday, police located the man on Park Avenue West. The 31-year-old Chatham man has been charged with:
– Assault x2
– Overcome Resistance to Commit an Offence (choking)
– Theft Under $5000
– Forcible Confinement
The man has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
