(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A 19 year old driver from Central Huron missed the deer, however, in his attempt to avoid the deer he put his Toyota Highlander in the ditch. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to the motor vehicle collision on Stone School Line just after 5:00 a.m. on July 26, 2014.
A Huron County OPP Officer spoke with the driver and determined the novice driver had been consuming alcohol and had a Blood Alcohol Concentration (B.A.C) above zero.
As a result, a 19 year old male driver from Central Huron was charged with Novice Driver – B.A.C Above Zero.
As a reminder to all Novice and Young drivers, there are stiff penalties for driving a motor vehicle with a B.A.C above zero. All drivers who are 21 or under must have a B.A.C level of zero when operating a motor vehicle.
If you are a novice driver and are caught with any amount of alcohol in your blood, you will receive an immediate 24-hour roadside driver licence suspension and if convicted, could face a fine up to $500 and receive a 30 day licence suspension under the novice driver escalating sanctions program.
If you are a fully licensed young driver who is 21 years and under and you are caught with alcohol in your blood, you will receive a 24 hour roadside driver licence suspension. If convicted you could face a fine and a 30 day licence suspension.
