(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – A male driver has been charged in relation to a serious collision on Evelyn Drive at Fairview Road in the Municipality of Thames Centre.
On July 28, 2014 at approximately 6:14 a.m. Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Thames Centre Fire and Middlesex-London Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a two vehicle collision involving a tractor-trailer and car. Police have learned that the tractor-trailer proceeded through a stop sign southbound on Fairview Road into the path of an eastbound car on Evelyn Drive. As a result of the initial collision, the car then rolled several times. The lone occupant of the car was extricated and airlifted to hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries. The truck driver was not injured.
The intersection was closed for the investigation and re-opened at approximately 10:30 a.m.
As a result of the investigation, police have charged the male truck driver, Robert STONER, age 50 of Strathroy-Caradoc Township with Careless Driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
