(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Friday afternoon July 25, 2014, shortly after 1:30 p.m. an officer with the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting patrols on Perth Road 119 east of the Village of Brunner, when a car was observed travelling at an extremely high rate of speed. The officer utilized police radar and determined the car’s speed to be 142 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. (This is 62 km/h above the posted speed limit).
The car was pulled over by the officer and the offending motorist, an 18 year old female from Stratford was charged with “race a motor vehicleâ€Â. She is scheduled to appear in Stratford court on August 26, 2014 to answer to this charge. Her driver’s licence has been suspended for seven days, and her car has been impounded for a week.
The Perth County OPP will continue to target impaired, aggressive and suspended drivers. Citizens are urged to contact police immediately if they witness or suspect an impaired driver. The OPP can be reached anytime anywhere within the Province of Ontario at 1-888-310-1122.
