(QUINTE WEST, ON) – Quinte West OPP is committed to reducing collisions on area roadways. A year to date comparison of total collisions from January 2013 to June 2013 and January 2014 to June 2014 show that they are up by 19% in Quinte West.
The Quinte West OPP have determined that the majority of the collisions are intersection related and occur between 10am and 2pm. Following to close and failing to yield right of way appear to be contributing factors in these collisions.
Officers from the detachment will be focusing efforts at intersections, educating motorists on the rules of the roads as well as enforcing the rules of the roads. The OPP would also remind people to be aware of their surrounding and be cognitive of changing traffic conditions.
