SERIOUS MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION – HWY 6 & 21

(TOWNSHIP OF GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On Friday, August 8, 2014 at approximately 11:38 p.m., a Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of serious, single vehicle collision on Hwy. 6 & 21 on the Sunset Strip in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix travelling west bound on Hwy. 6 & 21 proceeded through a red light at the intersection of Grey Rd. 17B. The driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a hydro pole on the north side of the road (Royal LePage), causing a power outage in the area.

The driver of the vehicle, a 20 year old woman, was extricated from the vehicle and air lifted to hospital in London, Ontario, with serious non-life threatening injuries. A 27 year old female passenger was transported via ambulance to hospital in Owen Sound with non-life threatening injuries. Both women are from the Municipality of Meaford.

An injured dog inside the vehicle was taken to a local veterinary clinic. The dog did not survive.

Grey County Emergency Services (EMS) and the Inter-Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Grey County OPP continue to investigate.
