(LAKESHORE, ON) -On August 13, 2014 at around 11:25 a.m., Lakeshore Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Lakeshore Fire Service and Essex County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were called to a two vehicle crash at the Intersection of Essex County Road 46 and Rochester Townline.
Investigation determined that a motorcycle was travelling eastbound on Essex County Road 46 when it collided with a pickup truck that was travelling southbound on Rochester Townline. That intersection is controlled by a stop sign both northbound and southbound on Rochester Townline.
The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck was transported to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation (TTCI) team was called in to assist with the investigation. Traffic was re-routed around the crash scene for several hours while the investigation was conducted.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation and further updates will be provided when available.
