(Otonabee South Monaghan Township, ON) – On Friday August 15, at approximately 3:30 a.m., members of the Peterborough County OPP. investigated a single motor vehicle collision that had occurred on Highway 7 west of Villers Line.
The collision involved an International Tractor Trailer hauling a load of loose aggregates that was travelling west bound on Highway 7 at the time. Officers from the Peterborough Detachment arrive shortly after the collision and located the driver in his damaged vehicle and ensured his safety until the proper equipment arrived to free him from the wreckage. Ambulance and Fire attended along with Hydro crews due to concerns over the live power lines.
The 34 year old male driver from Havelock was extracted from his vehicle and was then airlifted to Toronto for treatment of serious injuries.
OPP have closed Highway 7 between County Road 38 and County Road 34. Traffic is being rerouted to County Road 2 south of Highway 7.
Hydro advised that power in the area has been affected and is expected to be out until the early afternoon as crews repair the damage.
