On August 14th, 2014 at approximately 10:23am police responded to a single motor vehicle roll over on Elm Line just west of Yarmouth Centre Road, Central Elgin. A 2000 Toyota SUV had been travelling west on Elm Line when it left the roadway and travelled into the north ditch. The vehicle struck a mailbox and then crossed back over the roadway and rolled into the south ditch.
The driver, a 31 year old St Thomas, ON woman was transported to hospital with minor injuries while her passenger, a 38 year Aylmer, ON man was treated and released at the scene.
The police investigation indicated that the female driver had been drinking and as a result a demand for a breath sample was made. The driver refused to provide a breath sample and was arrested and charged.
Leila Jentina OOSTERHOFF, age 31 of St Thomas, ON has been charged with;
Refusing to Provide Breath Samples under the Criminal Code
Careless Driving under the Highway Traffic Act.
OOSTERHOFF was release on an Appearance notice. She is scheduled to appear in St Thomas Criminal Court on September 2, 2014.
